The Element of Choice© shows how to move beyond promises of participation by choice in riskbased learning environments. When participants are asked to stretch past their real or perceived limits, we often see a range of emotional and physiological responses indicating a deep internal conflict.
This workshop models how teaching choice as a component of curriculum produces dramatic gains.

Learning Objectives:

1. Learn to identify how the allure of adventure, participant beliefs, peer influence, and even the biases of staff in goal setting experiences rob participants of their choice.
2. Learn a process and structure of how to teach choice as a component of your program.
3. Learn how to use the principles and tools of this workshop to support your participant to make effective choices when they are out beyond risk and heading toward danger.
