Workshop Description

When bad things happen, you need to move fast. The number of people who need to hear from you is amazing – families, staff, regulators, underwriters, social media followers… those pesky reporters, and often more. In this session, you’ll gain understanding of what to say and how to say it – and the preparatory steps necessary to make that happen.

Learning Objectives

– Learn “do words” and “don’t words” when communicating in the immediate aftermath of a critical event

– Learn to identify the myriad stakeholder groups with whom you’ll need to communicate, in order to determine the best ways to reach them

– Learn what your organization needs to consider in pre-planning: skilled spokespeople, an emergency communications plan that helps you facilitate your efforts, team members who understand what you’ll be expecting of them, and the importance of prioritizing and tracking outbound communications (and analyzing what comes back!).
