“It’s a challenge course, not a success course” a practitioner said under his breath, as he watched a belayer give so much tension that it assists a climber across a traversing element. This workshop invites practitioners of facilitated challenge course programs to reflect on some fundamental leadership and program design questions about challenge and success
We will consider the following questions:
- Is my warm up progression inadvertently discouraging risk taking?
- What does real struggle look like while I’m facilitating?
- What are my motives for intervening when I see a person or a group struggle?
- How long do we let struggle play out?
