Workshop Description

Learn how to apply the leading academic research of safety and risk management experts across industries to build and maintain the best possible risk management systems for challenge course operations.

You’ll understand how to apply the current best scientific thinking on incident causation modelling, complex sociotechnical systems theory, resilience engineering, and conformance regimes, to improve challenge course safety outcomes.

Learning Objectives

Attendees will:

1) Understand basic concepts used in safety science across industries—from aviation to military and healthcare fields

2) Learn how to apply best practices in incident prevention and mitigation from that academic research to the challenge course industry

3) Gain access to additional resources for learning more about recent advances in the study of risk management, and how they can be used in challenge courses, aerial adventure parks, canopy tours and zip line operations.
